Reward System
Everyone here at Great Torrington Community School agrees that life can be very challenging. It is important that all pupils are rewarded for their efforts which are above normal expectations. Rewards may be given for achievement, effort, good performance or service to the school. There are many ways of giving rewards but we mainly use:
Credit Certificates - are issued to pupils in all Years who have performed a task (academic or otherwise) or service to a high standard deserving of reward.
Certificate of Commendation - these recommendations are awarded on the basis of exceptional performance and high achievement. This could be a 'one-off' or cumulative.
Tangible Rewards - these are available to pupils on an annual basis for outstanding achievements and contributions to the life of the school.
Recognition - can be given to success and achievement of different kinds in assembly and tutorial time. Recommendations through HOY/HOD to Mrs Hardy.
Public Recognition - the annual Awards ceremonies give opportunity for public recognition of achievement within each Year. A wide range of Awards are granted.
Rewards - also come in the form of responsibilities and participation in the working of the school (e.g. sitting on the Year or School councils, being appointed a School or Bus Prefect).
Attendance - A certificate is given for 100% attendance termly.
