Parents & Friends Association
Autumn Term 2009 News
Thanks to the support of parents, staff and friends, the PFA was very successful in fundraising for the school over the course of the last year. The main events included the Christmas and Valentine Disco, Easter Bingo and a BBQ at the Open Evening in July. In all we raised just under £1500 and are pleased to report that some of this money has been allocated to supporting "shopping lists" supplied by staff, in various departments including Food tech, PE, Science, Special Needs, Maths as well as the Duke of Edinburgh group.
For this coming year, we are planning to hold a Christmas Disco on Friday 11th December 2009, Valentine Disco on Friday 12th February 2010 and Easter Bingo will be on a Wednesday in March 2010.
In addition to supporting these events, we are delighted to have been accepted as one of the North Devon Journal's YourPic's charities of the year. In case you haven’t noticed it before, the NDJ print a couple of pages of photos every week, which have been submitted on behalf of various charities. Being nominated as one of these charities enables us to receive £1 for every photo the NDJ print in this section for a whole year. They are keen to receive photos of anything which might be of interest to readers in North Devon they don't have to be related to the school. It would be great to see pictures of our pupils and their families attending events, parties, activities, sports, etc., so please, get that camera out and email your photos over to lchurchill@c-dm.co.uk. Make sure your email states that you would like GTS PFA to benefit if your photo is printed. If you have any problems submitting photos, please contact Jax Williams via the school office.
A reminder that we still have a number of raffle tickets to sell for the Mega Draw run by the Rotary Club. The tickets cost £1 each and the prizes include £300, £200, £100 plus many, many others. Every £1 received goes directly into PFA funds, so please call into reception to buy your tickets if you haven't already done so. The tickets need to be returned by the end of October.
We are still increasing the amount raised via search engine everyclick.com. The total raised to date is over £72.00 for simply joining up and clicking through their link. Have a look and join up if you can.
Parents and friends are always welcome to come along to any of the PFA meetings or events, get in touch if you would like to find out more.
