Easter Bingo Eggstravaganza

Wednesday 24th of March - Great Torrington School Hall - 7pm - 9.30pm - Eyes down 7.45pm

All welcome. Children welcome if accompanied by an adult. Prizes will consist of fantastic meat / fruit baskets plus cash prizes and Easter Eggs. Proceeds from the event will go towards providing educational equipment for the school.

Parents - donations wanted please!
If you can't come to the Bingo event, please help support Great Torrington Sports College by donating a raffle prize: bubble bath, Easter eggs, unwanted Christmas presents etc. Donations to reception by the 23rd March please.

Fair Funding Campaign

The Fair Funding campaign continues to attract attention please support this campaign. If you believe that it is unfair that children attending Devon Schools are funded £375 per year less than the average please add your name to the petition from the link below. We need to try to get 1000 new signatures a month, so please encourage everyone you know to sign up!!! It only takes a minute.

Keystage 3 Open Evening

To Parents of Pupils in Year 5, Year 6, Year 7 & Year 8.

Date & Time: Tuesday, 23rd March 2010 - 7.15 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

Venue: Starting in The Drama Studio (P1), Great Torrington Community School

Please come and find out more about the first three years of secondary education at this school by joining us on Tuesday, 23rd March at 7.15 p.m. First you will be given a general talk in the Drama Studio about this phase of your child's education. Then the fun begins as you have the opportunity to experience English, Communications (ICT & Modern Foreign Languages) and Science lessons in their own teaching areas.

Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award - Year 9

Please see Mrs Leonard (Pedpass Office) if you are interested in joining the DoE Bronze Award Scheme starting in Summer Term. The DofE Scheme is comprised of undertaking a service (voluntary work), learning a new skill, participation in a form of physical recreation as well as completing an expedition over 2 days.

Your child must be determined to complete the award if she/he is to enrol on the scheme because it is limited to only 24 participants so if they start the award they must aim to finish by this next year or earlier especially if they would like to progress onto the Silver award. Please respond quickly to ensure your place and also take note of the dates below.

Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers

It is that time of year again where we are able to collect vouchers from Sainsbury's. This is by far the best campaign open to schools to collect vouchers in exchange for sporting equipment.

Last year we managed to collect over 10,000 vouchers and I would like to go beyond that total this year. From this collection we are able to purchase equipment that goes along way throughout the year, and with budgets getting tighter, we need all the help we can get.

Vouchers are available from Sainsbury's stores now and will be available until 8th June 2010. So, if you are a Sainsbury's regular, please collect them for us and bring them into reception or PE office.

If you are not a Sainsbury's shopper, please start now!

Also, many thanks to those of you that collected Daily Mail mastheads for us, unfortunately they closed the collection after about a month and we didn't get anywhere near the total required for free kit (strange that!).

Many thanks for your efforts though.
