Welcome
Great Torrington Community School is a really happy school where learners flourish and gain skills and qualifications which set them up for successful and exciting lives. This is a very exciting time to be at this school because we have been designated as a high performing specialist school due to our last inspection in 2006, which found all aspects of the school to be at least good and some were very good. This meant that we could have a second specialism and we have been awarded Applied Learning to go with our Sports Specialism. The extra funding has enabled us to provide courses and training for smaller groups of learners particularly in vocational subjects and the new Diploma. Added to all this we have new Art, Music, Drama, History and Special Needs classrooms. We look forward to working closely with you to ensure that your child's education is an enjoyable and rewarding experience. There will be opportunities to visit the school and find out more about the educational activities we offer.

Post 16 Opportunities Evening
GTS will be holding a Post 16 Opportunities Evening on the 11th November 2009 at 6.30-8.30pm in the Sports Hall. It will be open to Parent/Carers/Pupils of year 9, 10, & 11 to support KS4 & Post 16 Options. To view a list of companies and College's attending, Please click here.

New School Menu

Dining Hall Refurbishment
Towards the end of last year, the DCSF and Devon County Council announced that they were making capital grants available for schools to improve and update their dining environments. We placed a bid, for over £50,000, to refurbish the kitchen servery area and dining hall and to introduce biometric cashless catering in the school.
We have recently heard that we have been successful with our bid and are now starting to move forward with the project. We are planning to have the work completed by the beginning of the next academic year.
